State Approves New Energy Technology Management Bachelor Degree Program
(Bradenton, Fla., June 15, 2010)
The Florida State Board of Education (SBE) at its June 15, 2010, meeting
held in Orlando approved a proposal by State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota
(SCF) to offer a new Bachelor of Applied Science in Energy Technology
Management. The new program is scheduled to start in 2011.
Designed to meet the needs of a critical emerging field, SCF is the first
institution of higher education in its service area to offer a bachelor’s
degree in energy technology management. SBE members recognized SCF for
its foresight in planning a program designed to produce qualified individuals
for growth industry positions in energy applications, conservation, consulting
and testing, among others.
The energy technology management program joins several other bachelor
degree programs underway and approved at SCF. The baccalaureate programs
at SCF were developed in response to requests from community and business
leaders and professionals in the fields, several of whom joined SCF President
Dr. Lars A. Hafner and college officials at SBE meetings.
