SCF celebrates two new name facilities
honoring local Families
Introducing the Dozier B. Hilliard Business
Wing and
the David S. and Anne Howard Studio Theatre
Bradenton, FL: Earlier this month College of Florida celebrated
two naming dedications in honor of local families.
The family of the late Dozier B. Hilliard – an innovative and respected
businessman who helped bring SCF to Bradenton – cut the ribbon on the
Dozier B. Hilliard Business Wing in SCF’s Professional Development Center.
The Hilliard family made the gift as a salute to the late Dozier’s pride
in SCF and the community he loved. Said SCF President Dr. Lars Hafner:
“Thanks to Dozier and his associates, more than 25,000 area residents
have been able to pursue a better life as a result of their college degrees.”
The College also cut the ribbon on a new 4,000-square-foot “black box”
theatre. Funding for the theatre was made possible by several loyal donors
including a lead gift from an anonymous benefactor who wanted to honor
her favorite Sarasota actor – David S. Howard – on his 80th birthday.
David and his wife, Anne, have long been connected to SCF – they have
children who attended SCF and they helped nurture the career of SCF theatre
faculty member Dean Anthony. The David S. and Anne Howard Studio Theatre
boasts a state-of-the-art lighting system, including a Strand Classic
Palette Console, thanks to an additional gift from the Frederic W. and
Margaret E. Kurtz Fund of the Bank of America Client Foundation.
Tom Moseley, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for the SCF Foundation and President of Whitney Bank, South Tampa region, said: “This
College’s continued enrollment growth has prompted the need for more instructional
space. We have added and renovated space that is technologically sophisticated
and offers our students the opportunity to learn in an environment that
will ensure they are competitive wherever their paths lead them following
graduation.”
Many more unique giving opportunities are available at all three of SCF”s
campuses – in Bradenton, Venice and Lakewood Ranch. To learn more about
